'In the green’ bulbs are available from late January . Native perennial of fields and rocky places, preferring dry, sunny conditions. It thrives on chalky soils. Medium height growing up to 60cm. The flower heads are striking and attractive with purple flowers held in a spherical head from June to August and dry well for flower arrangements. The bulbs have been used as an onion substitute.

Planting Instructions for ' I n the Green ' Bul b s : The bulbs should be planted as soon as you receive them. They are best planted where they can be left undisturbed. I f the earth is frozen solid, then you’ll need to wait until it is crumbly again. If you do need to wait for a co uple of days, sink the bulbs in some damp compost in a sheltered place until the soil is crumbly again.
Plant the bulbs as soon as possible upon receipt.
These bulbs were grown in Britain from cultivated stock.
