Care Instructions:
We recommend that your plants are planted immediately for best results. Do not let the plants dry out - keep them moist. If they can't be planted immediately, keep the plants in a sheltered, cool location preferably in light shade to await planting.
Bog Garden Plants:
Your bog garden plug plants should be treated the same as any ordinary garden plug plants but keep the soil much more wet.
Oxygenators & Floating Plants:
For Floating Plants, such as Water Soldiers & Frog Bit, all you need to do is drop it in your pond - it does not need to be potted up. Deep Water Oxygenators, such as Hornwort, can be submerged by using lead or stone weights. Shallower Marginal Oxygenators, such as Water Starwort & Marsh Pennywort, should be potted up into aquatic baskets as described below.
Marginal & Deep Water Plants:
Deep Water Plants (eg Lily, Brandy Bottle) & Marginal Plants (eg Pennyroyal, Water Mint, Brooklime etc), will need to be planted into the soil at the bottom of the pond or into a marginal planting bag/basket. If using a plastic pond basket, line it with hessian before filling with aquatic soil. If using a pond planting bag, simply fill with aquatic soil. Submerge in a bucket to remove any loose particles of soil and ensure that the soil is well soaked. When planting, ensure that the plant is well firmed down and then place some shingle on the surface to prevent the plant from becoming dislodged. Place in the pond at the appropriate depth (specified on the label of each plant and on the Pond Plant pages of our website).
